Rs 135 cr scam probe transferred to CB

PANJIM: The Goa Police on Thursday transferred the investigation into the alleged Rs 135 crore scam by Myron Rodrigues and others from the Economic Offence Cell (EOC) to the Crime Branch.

In an order, Deputy Inspector General of Police, Range, Varsha Sharma, IPS, said, “Keeping in view the gravity of the criminal case registered at the EOC Police Station under Sections 406 and 420 read with 34 of IPC and to ensure a through a more professional investigation, the case stands transferred to Crime Branch Police Station, Ribandar, with immediate effect for further investigation.”

“PI EOC Police Station should at once hand over the case papers and up-to-date case diaries along with attached Muddemal property if any in the case to the Crime Branch Police Station,” Sharma said.

In November this year, the EOC had booked a couple from Salcete and five others for allegedly duping around 50 investors of approximately Rs 100 crore.

One Ivon Suresh Joaquim Almeida from Navelim had lodged a complaint stating that Myron Rodrigues and his wife Deepali Parab had cheated him of Rs 36,54,336 on the pretext of investing his money in the share market.

Later, more complaints were filed against the accused and as per the complaints there are more than 50 investors who have been duped worth Rs 100 crore.
