PANJIM: Major transfers have been effected at Road Transport Organisation (RTO) check posts after the Anti Corruption Branch (ACB) of the Police Department pressed for action against erring officers on duty at Dhargal check post following a raid conducted last week. The ACB found unaccounted cash and officers guilty of dereliction of duty.
Deputy Superintedent (ACB) Bossuet Silva who conducted the raid last week submitted a report to the transport department that the RTO official at Dhargal check post was on duty without a proper uniform, registers were poorly maintained and cash to the tune of Rs 7000 was unaccounted for.
Silva disclosed that the office of the ACB Police Department had received a report of harassment from transporters by RTO officials at the Dhargal check post.
Silva told Herald on Tuesday that one Ravindra Satardekar was on duty at the time of the raid.
Meanwhile , the Transport Department has initiated action of transferring and re-shuffling RTO officers from various check posts. As many as 10 transfers have been effected, according to officials from the transport department.
Following receipt of the report from the ACB Police Department, the Transport ministry has transferred two officials from the Dhargal check post.
