PONDA: Madhav Sahkari has been elected unopposed as the chairman of Goa Dairy by the newly elected Board of Directors (BOD) at its first special meeting on Wednesday.
Satish Sawant from the office of the Registrar of Cooperative Societies was the Returning Officer for the election. The election meeting was attended by all the 12 newly elected directors of the dairy.
Addressing to media after his election as chairman, Sahkari said that the BOD would soon frame new policy to manage the affairs of Goa Dairy.
He said that Goa Dairy would stress more on increasing milk processing and production from the existing 65000 liters per day to 1.10 lakh liters per day.
“We will also plan strategies to counter rival dairy units trying to establish base in Goa,” he said.
He said that he would conduct an inquiry into all the allegations levelled against Goa Dairy and punish those found guilty.
“I will also reach out to every milk supplying society and farmers affiliated to Goa Dairy to understand their problems and solve the same,” Sahkari said.
He said that the Goa Dairy directors would meet the chief minister and government authorities and seek special schemes for dairy farmers who are supplying milk to Goa Dairy.
“Effort will be made to create a distinct identity and reputation for Goa Dairy in India,” he added.
