Sanguem receives light to moderate rainfall, tree uprooted at Sanquelim

SANGUEM/BICHOLIM: Most parts of Sanguem Taluka on Tuesday received light to moderate rainfall accompanied by heavy winds in the afternoon hours.

The gusty wind lasted for about half-an-hour and was later followed with drizzles at most places and moderate in interior areas.

Incidentally, no major damage either to life or property was reported except for some tree felling incidents.

There was however power failure in some areas in the afternoon hours. But the Electricity Department was quick enough to restore the power supply without causing many problems to the locals.

The locals are however worried over the power failure problems in the taluka whenever there are incidents of rain.

Meanwhile, due to gusty wind and heavy rainfall, one tree uprooted near playground of Sanquelim Municipal Council. However, no human casualty was reported.

The municipal officials cleared the debris of the tree. Some branches of trees had uprooted and had collapsed on the house of one Archana Madkaikar, resident of Cudne, thereby damaging roof tiles of the house.

Bicholim Mamlatdar Pravinjay Pandit has directed the Talathi of Cudne to submit preliminary assessment report in order to grant compensation. 

Further, there were power outages in Bicholim Taluka due to the sudden rain accompanied by gusty wind.
