PANJIM: Rev Fr Geraldo John Diniz, parish priest of Santo Estevam Church passed away following a cardiac arrest on Friday evening. He was 53.
The end came in when Fr Diniz was proceeding to Panjim as he had an appointment with Dr Rufino Monteiro and was on his way with two parishioners in a car when he suffered a cardiac arrest.

The two parishioners accompanying him immediately called Dr Rufino, who advised him to be taken to a private hospital in Panjim, where doctors declared him brought dead.
Later, the mortal remains of Fr Diniz were brought to Santo Estevam Church and a vigil was held throughout the night, allowing parishioners to pay their respects in small groups.
A Requiem Mass will be celebrated at Santo Estevam Church at 10:30 am on Saturday, August 17 followed by a period for final farewell until 1 pm. His mortal remains will be taken to his Tilamol residence and the final rites will be held on Sunday, August 18 evening.
Born on December 5, 1970, Fr Diniz was ordained Priest on May 15, 1997. He studied at Rachol Seminary.
Fr Diniz served in the missions of Chisda-Daman before being transferred as the Parish Priest of St Stephen’s Church in June 2019, according to his companion and friend Fr Victor Ferrao.
