Margao: South Goa MP Francisco Sardinha has criticised the BJP central and State government on the rising fuel price and for not locking down the State even after a sharp rise in COVID-19 cases.
He said BJP, which is celebrating one year of its rule, is ‘living on borrowed oxygen in Madhya Pradesh, Karnataka and other States.

Speaking on the fuel price rise, Sardinha said, “They are getting curses from people due to the continuous fuel price rise. The prices of petrol and diesel are increasing every day. They don’t understand that all the prices of all commodities depend on fuel. The prices of things are soaring while people have lost their jobs due to corona.”
He also attacked the government on its response to the COVID outbreak.
“COVID cases have crossed 700 in Goa but because of their vested interests, they have not closed down the State. I request the government to increase the testing facilities. I congratulate the doctors for their efforts” said Sardinha.
On another issue, he spoke about how restaurants have been open but bars have not been allowed to open. “I don’t know what their wisdom is, in doing that. Reopen the bars, which have been closed. And, the excise licence fees should be charged for only 9 months and exempted from the 3 months of business, which they have lost,” Sardinha added.
