Sarzora resi dents have voiced strong opposition to a proposed highway slated to cut through Dandevaddo, ar guing that the project is unnecessary and poses a threat to village environ ment and their daily life. During the village assem bly held on Sunday at the panchayat hall, locals unan imously passed a resolu tion rejecting the proposed route. According to the resi dents, the planned highway alignment cuts through ar eas that form an essential part of Sarzora’s natural habitat. They fear the con struction will disrupt local ecology and increase risks for schoolchildren and other pedestrians who use the internal pathways dai ly. Villagers also expressed concerns about increased traffic, noise, and potential safety hazards if the project moves forward. Another significant topic discussed during the as sembly was the issue of ac cess to the Sarzora lake. Locals complained that they are currently unable to access the waterbody freely, despite it being an important natural and cul tural resource. The gram sabha had earlier request ed the Water Resources Department to allow resi dents-controlled access to the lake during designated hours and to permit fish farming activities. Rising incidents of theft and other petty crimes in the village also dominated discussions, with residents demanding stronger safe ty measures. In light of the situation, the panchayat has urged all households to complete mandatory tenant verification immediately. Locals have been in structed to submit copies of the verification forms to both the police and the panchayat to ensure proper records are main tained. Panchayat offi cials confirmed that they too have initiated the process of independent ly collecting information about tenants residing in the village. The gram sabha conclud ed with members reaffirm ing their stand against the highway and emphasizing the need to protect local ecosystems and maintain community safety.
