Residents of Savorshe-Sattari stopped about five trucks carrying ore from Usgao reportedly to a company at Pissurlem-Sattari late Friday night.
Villagers claimed that the mining trucks have been illegally operating along the route since the past few days.
They feared that if overloaded trucks would pose a serious threat to the Savorshem bridge, which does not have the capacity to bear load exceeding 16 tonnes.
Peeved over the movement of mining trucks at about 9.30 pm on Friday, residents gathered at the Savorshem bridge and prevented five mining trucks from crossing the Savorshe bridge for about an hour.
The agitating residents dispersed only when Valpoi police intervened and the trucks drivers assured the residents that they would not use the route the next time.
