MARGAO: A city-based school has joined the efforts of the Margao Municipal Council on the door-to-door waste collection front.
Posh English High School, Colmorod has sponsored gloves and masks to the workers engaged by the Dosti self help group which has been entrusted the work of waste management by the MMC and is covering areas of Colmorod, Ratwado, Chinchal, Calcondem, Aquem Baixo, Rawanfond, etc.
Speaking at the function, former MMC Chairperson Savio Coutinho made an appeal through the students to cooperate with the waste collectors moving around the city with an aim to keep the city clean. He said that even the waste collectors are human beings and as such they should be treated humanely.
Manager of Posh School, Edna Fernandes stated that the school was happy to involve itself in the waste management in a small way and as such decided to give the waste collectors the much required gloves and masks to the Dosti self help group.
