PORVORIM: Chief Minister Pramod Sawant assured Members in the State Legislative Assembly that he will look into the demand to implement a permanent pension scheme for retired Goan seafarers and their widows via The Goa Welfare/Pension Scheme for Seafarers, 2012.
Replying to a Private Member’s resolution moved by Benaulim MLA Capt Venzy Viegas on the issue and supported by the Opposition legislators, the Chief Minister said that he will look into resolving the issue before November this year when the temporary pension scheme ends.
“There are 1851 retired seafarers. I am on the way to get it cleared. Give me some time,” Sawant said replying to Viegas’ resolution demanding to make the scheme permanent.
