PONDA: Scared of rising COVID positive cases, Collem and Mollem locals on Monday submitted memorandum to Dharbandora Deputy Collector to seal the Mollem checkpost for the heavy transportation and public vehicles coming from the neighbouring States except the vehicles with life essential commodity.
The memorandum to Dharbandora Taluka Deputy Collector was submitted by Mollem Panchayat Sarpanch Snehalata Naik on behalf of the Mollem villagers.
In its memorandum, the sarpanch brought to notice that the villagers are scared of rising cases in the State. Mollem checkpost is located in bazaar-cum-residential area and the vehicles drivers and other people who are entering the State are wondering for food and other essential items in nearby localities and due to this there is fear in the minds of the villagers that they may carry and spread coronavirus in the village and for this people are submitting their memorandum from time to time.
She requested to allow entry for only life essential goods such as milk, medicine, fruits through Mollem checkpost.
She further pointed that the additional staff deployed at Mollem checkpost is from local nearby areas and anybody among them get infected then there are chances for spread of coronavirus in the village.
She urged the authorities to act before any law and order situation caused by the villagers.
