PANJIM: Section 144 has been imposed on account of the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) in parts of Panjim, Porvorim and Bambolim and Agassaim. This order will remain in force till November 28, 2021, the last day of IFFI.

The order was issued by the North Goa District Magistrate. Under Section 144(1) of Code of Criminal Procedure 1973, the District Magistrate has prohibited assembly and gathering of five or more persons and taking out or organising of processions. Also the carrying of firearms or weapons of offence such as lathis, swords, daggers or spears, the use of loudspeakers, the shouting of slogans, burning of firecrackers near the petrol pumps and at the venues of meetings, etc, in any public place, street, road, square, thoroughfare, by-lane or in any open space within the radius of 500 metres around the Mall de Goa, Porvorim, ESG premises, Panjim and the place of function of 52nd IFFI edition in Goa i.e. at Shyama Prasad Mukherjee Indoor Stadium, Bambolim in the jurisdiction of Porvorim, Panjim and Agassaim Police Station.
The restrictions will not apply to public servants on duty and to bonafide marriage or funeral processions or any special occasion or occasions which in the opinion of the District Magistrate/Additional District Magistrate/Sub-Divisional Magistrates, are genuine and for which prior permission in writing has/have been be obtained from the District Magistrate/Additional District Magistrate or the Sub-Divisional Magistrate concerned.
