Four denied bail in assault case

MARGAO:  The Sessions Judge, Margao rejected the anticipatory the bail application of four persons accused of assaulting a 37-year-old resident of Cuelim.

Acting on the complaint lodged by the victim Antonio Joao Soares’ wife Monica Fernandes, Verna Police registered an offence under Section 307 of the IPC against the four accused Jowet Barretto, Raju Mandreker, Clany Victoria and Likson Rebello for attempt to murder. 

Monica in her complaint stated that the accused with their common intention to commit her husband’s murder assaulted him with fist blows and kicks and later hit him with a laterite stone. Antonio who sustained grievous head injuries is undergoing treatment at the South Goa District Hospital.

The judge issued notices to Vena Police, PP and Defence Advocate, heard the arguments and rejected the bail application.
