The elderly woman, visibly shaken and in tears, was immediately assisted by Adv Pratima Coutinho, who accompanied her to the Margao Town Police Station to register a formal complaint.

Speaking to reporters, Coutinho strongly condemned the incident and highlighted the increasing risks faced by senior citizens in public spaces.

“Senior citizens are increasingly being targeted, and there seems to be no fear of the law among these criminals,” she said. “This is a clear collapse of law and order, and authorities must take immediate action to protect the elderly.”

The victim shared the emotional significance of the stolen ornament, explaining that it had been saved for her daughter’s upcoming wedding. “It is not just a chain; it is a part of our family’s memories and future celebrations,” she said.
