The gram sabha of Navelim village panchayat, held on Sunday, passed several key resolutions aimed at improving civic infrastructure and governance in the village.
The meeting, chaired by Sarpanch Paul Pereira, resolved to make the long-awaited traffic signal operational, a move expected to ease congestion and enhance road safety in the area.

The assembly also stressed the need for comprehensive verification of tenants in the village to ensure accurate records and effective governance.
In another major decision, the gram sabha approved the initiation of wet garbage collection across Navelim — a step aimed at improving waste management and sanitation. “This will help maintain cleanliness in the village and promote better environmental practices,” the panchayat noted.
Members further resolved to update the official panchayat website to provide timely information and services to residents. “An updated website will enhance transparency and make governance more accessible to the public,” the Sarpanch said.
During the discussions, the issue of constructing a new higher secondary structure in the village was also raised. However, Pereira informed members that the matter is currently sub judice, and no further action can be taken until a legal resolution is reached.
