The Rumdamol Panchayat has remained without a Sarpanch and Deputy Sarpanch for the past year, raising concerns over the functioning of the local self-governing body.
Adv. Pratima Coutinho alleged that the rights of elected representatives were being undermined and accused Navelim MLA Ulhas Tuvekar of interfering in Panchayat affairs.

Coutinho said the authorities would be given one month to resolve the issue. She warned that if no action is taken within the stipulated period, residents would mobilise in large numbers and stage a protest outside the Directorate of Panchayats.
The prolonged absence of the Panchayat’s elected leadership has now become a matter of concern, with demands growing for the issue to be resolved at the earliest.
