PANJIM: Seven of the nine Self Help Groups located within Mormugao taluka were sent notices by the Food and Drugs Administration to get their act together and maintain hygiene within their premises.
Director of the Food and Drugs Administration, Salim Veljee has said that the notices were issued for minor transgressions and the other two SHGs escaped because their offices were found closed.
“Inspections were conducted in the early hours to check and verify facilities and practices adopted by them during cooking mid-day meals comprising patal bhaji sheera and pulao. Seven SHGs have been issued notices for minor lapses which include sanitation at external surrounding, providing proper soak pit to discharge waste and proper storage for food,” he said.
The raids were conducted from 6am to 11am. Such raids will continue in Salcete, Bardez, Tiswadi during the coming days, said Velgee.
