MARGAO: Margao police on Wednesday busted a sex racket with the arrest of two persons from Mumbai, who had procured two girls from West Bengal for the purpose of prostitution in the commercial town.
While the two alleged pimps Firoz Sheik and Sham Mishram, both hailing from Mumbai, are cooling their heels in the Margao lock-up, the two rescued victim girls have been sent to the Protective Home at Merces.
Acting on a tip-off, Margao police station in-charge, PI Sudesh Naik laid a trap to arrest the two, who were operating near a hotel in the heart of the city. A decoy customer contacted the accused persons over a mobile and the duo agreed to provide two girls on Wednesday noon. At around 12.30 noon, the accused along with the victim girls arrived near a hotel on the Station Road where the police in plainclothes were waiting to nab the accused.
When the decoy customer kept the accused duo busy discussing the deal, the police team headed by Margao PI Naik pounced and arrested both Sheik and Mishram  who are presently in Margao police lock-up. The raiding team comprised head constables Subhash Naik, Savlo Naik, police constables Vassu Kesarkar, Gorouk Gawas, LPC Anita Kolkar and Ashiwini Patil. Further investigation in the case is being carried by PI Naik.
