MARGAO: The South Goa and Planning and Development Authority (SGPDA) on Tuesday adopted the land use map and land use register besides approving the first phase of renovation of the wholesale fish market and the first phase of the multipurpose school at Borda.
SGPDA Chairperson Dr Renuka da Silva said there were around 129 objections received after the Land Use Map was kept open for public comments. “However, as most of them were pertaining to change of zone, it was decided to consider them at the time of preparing the outline development plan,” she said.
The area coming under Margao planning has around 22,000 land parcels meaning Chalta Numbers and P T Sheet numbers and there are around 14,500 structures in these parcels which had to be listed in the Form A to form the Land Use Register.
As the Margao Municipal Council has already given its NOC to the Land Use Plan there the SGPDA is now able to submit the plan and register to the TCB Board which will then notify it for public scrutiny, said Dr. Renuka.
The SGPDA also approved the first phase of improvement of the wholesale fish market that involves constructing a compound wall, leveling the area and setting up the waste treatment plant. A Vertical Wetlands & Riverbed Filtration technology has been designed by BITS Pilani Goa and TERI to treat the effluents at the wholesale market.
