PANJIM: Union AYUSH Minister Shripad Naik once again tested positive for COVID-19 during the RT-PCR test, conducted by Goa Medical College and Hospital (GMC). Naik, who has been admitted in Manipal Hospital, since August 14, is stable.

The Union Minister had tested positive for COVID-19 on August 13 along with his wife. After initially opting for home isolation, the BJP leader was shifted to Manipal Hospital. On Monday, his health condition deteriorated and a team of doctors from AIIMS, Delhi, visited the State to monitor him.
Naik, had tested negative for the virus at the anti-gen test conducted on Sunday.
GMC sources confirmed that Naik has tested positive for the virus during the RT-PCR, test conducted on Tuesday, but all his vital parameters are normal and stable. “Another test will be conducted within 24-48 hours,” sources said.
Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant, who has been taking regular updates on Naik’s health condition, said that the Union Minister’s health is stable and he is responding well to treatment. “He is on high-flow oxygen at present. It will take another two to three days for oxygen level to be normal,” he told media persons.
Sawant said that the AIIMS teams that monitored Naik’s health is satisfied with the line of treatment given to him and hence there is no need to shift him to Delhi for now. “We will follow all the procedures as prescribed by the doctors,” he said.
The AIIMS team monitored Naik on Monday late evening and again on Tuesday morning, before leaving for Delhi.
