South Indian Bank, a Kerala-based scheduled bank disclosed a substantial rise in standalone net profit for the quarter ended December 2008. During the quarter, the profit of the bank rose 33.1 per cent to Rs 54.2 crore from Rs 40.72 crore in the same quarter last year.
Interest earned for the quarter rose 30.27 per cent to Rs 441.48 crore, while total income for the quarter rose 29.94 per cent to Rs 487.94 crore, when compared with the prior year period.
The bank posted earnings of Rs 4.80 a share during the quarter, registering 6.67 per cent growth over prior year period.
