MARGAO: In the fifth such incident to occur in South Goa in a single month, a high school in Betalbatim has fallen victim to burglary.
Thieves forcibly entered the school premises after breaking the door lock.According to the Colva police, the case has been registered based on a complaint filed by the Headmistress of St Jude’s High School in Betalbatim.

The complaint states that the thieves gained access to the school between 2.30 pm on November 1 and 8.30 am on November 2.
The perpetrators made off with the school’s CCTV DVR and a sum of Rs 70,000 in cash from the school office.After conducting a panchanama and calling in fingerprint experts, the police enlisted the services of a dog squad to aid in their investigation.Authorities suspect that the same gang may be responsible for all five theft cases reported in South Goa in the past month.
Of these cases, three have occurred in Salcete, while the other two were in Canacona.It’s worth noting that similar thefts have been reported at Regina Martyrum High School in Assolna, Fr Basilio Andrade Memorial Higher Secondary School in Majorda, S S Angle Higher Secondary School in Mashem, and Shri Shradhanand Vidyalaya School in Poinguinim.
