Over 1,800 traffic challans were issued by the South Goa Traffic Police during the State Road Safety Week, officials said.
According to DySP (Traffic) Rajendra Prabhudessai, the most common violations were helmetless riding (546 cases) and speeding (404 cases), which he identified as the leading causes of fatal and grievous injuries.

Other offences included 31 vehicles with modified silencers, 50 with unauthorised lighting, and 33 vehicles with tinted glasses.
Authorities emphasised that road safety awareness must continue beyond Road Safety Week, urging motorists to remain vigilant and follow traffic rules every day to prevent accidents.
