MARGAO: The State Police Complaints Authority (SPCA) has let off with a caution then police inspector of Maina-Curtorim police station Siddhant Shirodkar in a petition filed by a resident of Sao Jose de Areal, Menino Fernandes.
The SPCA said it had no reason to recommend any disciplinary proceedings against PI Shirodkar, saying the authority is unable to find any concrete and reliable evidence to prove that he abused his authority towards the petitioner. “We feel a written caution to PI Siddhant Shirodkar will suffice to motivate him to act more carefully in future performance of his statutory duties. We, however, do not find it necessary to have an entry in his service record in this regard”, observed SPCA Chairman Justice R M S Khandeparkar, while recommending to the state government to issue written caution to the police officer within a period of 90 days from the date of receipt of this report.
Justice Khandeparkar further directed the Director General of Police to submit a compliance report within a period of 15 days.
