MARGAO: A stage decorator Anthony Fernandes accusing the Fatorda Police of arresting him following a false complaint, alleged that the police were influenced by the opposite party and did not accept his complaint.
He said one tiatrist whose family is in the entertainment business threatened him on August 14 and subsequently lodged a false complaint against him and got him arrested. “When I was seated at the Fatorda police station, the tiatrist’s brother and parents were confabulating with the police inspector for an hour following which I was kept under the lock up,” he said.
Stating that the Fatorda Police refused to accept his complaint, he said he would complain against this behaviour to the higher officials immediately. He said that he was being harassed only because he had posted a cartoon of tiatrist Francis de Tuem and Vijai Sardessai from Facebook on the tiatrists WhatsApp group.
“The police instead of taking action against the cartoonist who prepared the cartoon or the person who posted it on Facebook are harassing me because I am a poor and simple man,” he said.
