MARGAO: A high-level meeting convened at the district Collectorate in South Goa has discussed the possibility of implementing staggered timings for educational institutions situated along the railway tracks at Comba.

The move aims to ease traffic congestion during peak school hours.
Representatives from the educational institutions present at the meeting expressed their support for the proposal and also agreed to organize a joint meeting of the management to ensure the smooth implementation of staggered timings at their respective schools.
The meeting, chaired by Margao MLA Digambar Kamat, was attended by Bhai Naik, Chairman of the Hindu Mathagramastha Sabha, which runs Damodar High School and Damodar Higher Secondary School’s science stream, and Dr. Manoj Hede, Physical Sports Director of Govind Ramnath Kare College of Law, Margao.
Bhai Naik, speaking at the meeting, assured full support for the initiative to alleviate traffic congestion in the area during peak school hours.
He suggested additional measures to address the issue, such as closing certain roads during peak times and relocating vendors, including a fruit juice center and horticulture shop, which contribute to the traffic buildup near the Comba railway crossing.
“I have urged the authorities to relocate the horticulture and fruit juice shops, as they contribute significantly to the congestion near the railway crossing at Comba,” Bhai Naik noted.
The initiative seeks to improve traffic flow in the area and create a more manageable environment for both commuters and residents during busy school hours.
