PANJIM: The Captain of Ports on Friday said the Central government has declared six rivers in Goa as National rivers and assured that every stake holder will be taken into consideration.
“No authority will be lost, all stakeholders would be consulted before finalizing the MoU with the Centre over nationalization of inland waterways of six important rivers of the State,” CoP James Braganza said.
He also assured that a new terminal building will be coming up at the Captain of Ports jetty, in Panjim and informed that the project has been delayed, as NOCs are awaited from various departments.
Mentioning that more floating jetties and development of light houses will be taken up, he stated, that the Captain of Ports will soon waive off the barge tax, which will be a big relief to barge owners, who have suffered due to the mining ban.
