PANJIM: Another 50 Amphotericin-B vials have been allocated to the State by Centre. These injections are used in the treatment of Mucormycosis cases commonly known as black fungus.
This was announced by Union Minister for Chemicals and Fertilisers D V Sadananda Gowda, on Tuesday. He said this was in addition to the 50 that had been allotted to Goa on May 21.

It may be recalled that last week on May 22, the Dean of Goa Medical College and Hospital Dr Shivanand Bandekar had stated that the State had already received two sets of vials from the Centre, the first being 100 and the second being 50. With the latest, the overall figures touch 200.
He had added that the GMC’s in-house pharmacy has also placed an order for 2,000 Amphotericin-B vials and that there is no shortage of the same in the State.
