PANJIM: Following requests from various higher secondary schools, the State government has permitted offline examinations for students of Classes XI and XII by following proper Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
In a circular issued to higher secondary schools, Education Director Bhushan Savaikar said that schools will have to take necessary precautions and care to prevent cases of COVID-19.

He further said that only vaccinated teaching and non-teaching staff will be allowed in the school premises and those non-vaccinated be directed to produce a negative COVID-19 RTPCR report.
Savaikar said that the Directorate has received requests from various higher secondary schools to allow them to conduct examinations in offline mode.
“Now in order to maintain the standard of education, Government has decided to permit higher secondary schools in the State to conduct examinations in offline mode for the students of Classes XI & XII; provided they follow all necessary COVID-19 SOP’s/ protocols and guidelines issued from time to time by the Central or State Government,” Director said.
Educational institutions, except colleges are shut for offline classes since mid March. Colleges re-opened for physical classes in September.
The Directorate has restricted the number of students in classrooms to 50 per cent of the room capacity. “Students shall be made to sit in the classroom(s) by following social distancing norms and shall always use a mask, when in the school,” DoE said.
Students and staff will be checked for body temperature before entering the school premises, which also has to be sanitised every day prior to the opening of the school. Students having COVID-19 symptoms should be advised to have the test done immediately.
