STEMI training prog held

PANJIM: Victor Hospital, Malbhat, Margao in association with Goa Medical College, Bambolim and Hospicio Hospital, Margao conducted a continuing medical education (CME) on the ST – Elevation Myocardial Infarction (STEMI) Management Training Programme. 
The CME was attended by the consultants and resident doctors of the participating hospitals. The function started with an opening address by Director of Victor Hospital Varun Albuquerque who mentioned the importance of the STEMI programme wherein medical facilities are easily accessible to patients within the golden hour. 
Victor Hospital is the only tertiary referral centre for cardiology in South Goa, with 24×7 availability of cardiologists, cath lab services and intensive care units. Dr Jyoti Kusnur, consultant interventional cardiologist was the first speaker of the day. She shed light on the interventional management of STEMI by highlighting some of the difficult Percutaneous Transluminal Coronary Angioplasty (PTCA) case studies undertaken at Victor Hospital. 
Dr Kanha Vijay Singru, consultant senior interventional cardiologist spoke about timing issues in STEMI. The 3rd Speaker for the day was Dr Guruprasad Naik, senior cardiologist, GMC who along with Dr Edward D’Mello (senior physician Hospicio Hospital) updated the doctors on the STEMI programme implemented by Government of Goa.
