Street Voices: What gift for Goa would you ask from Santa Claus this year?

Goans have many gifts to ask for, from Santa Claus for Goa

PANJIM: Christmas in Goa is one of the most important festivals that is celebrated with lot of enthusiasm. It is a festival that is marked with a lot of merrymaking and revelry, cutting across the barriers of religion. In this edition of Street Voices, Herald TV spoke to people on what gift for Goa would they ask from Santa Claus this year?

I just want to ask one thing for Goa from Santa Claus –that all the government facilities for Goans should improve be it education, water, or electricity. We are hearing for many years that Goa will be like Singapore, but its almost become like Somalia. I want Santa Claus also to clean the minds of our politicians so that they don’t indulge in corruption. I want Santa to improve the welfare of Goans and lift Goa up.

Let me wish every reader a Merry Christmas to all Goans. The first thing would be that this government be given the wisdom to stop all destruction of environment and our pristine land. Then to have very good infrastructure –good roads in every part of Goa, good water supply to every human being in the state of Goa, irrespective of caste, religion, creed; good power supply without any power cuts and many other nitty gritties. Very important would be people are suffering with soaring prices; then you have soaring unemployment, which is the highest in India.

Now it will be the birth of Christ and Santa Claus will bring lots of gifts with his huge bag. One of the gifts I will ask is that our Goa be saved. There are lots of problems in Goa this year, such that people have suffered tremendously. The greatest problems is unemployment. The youth should get jobs without paying bribes. Government promised three cylinders, women don’t get pension on time; there are so many cases in court, but there are not enough judges. The trees have been finished, land has been usurped, mountains have been cut. I’m praying to Santa Claus to protect our environment.

This year I’m asking only one gift from Santa Claus –save our tiny Goa, our springs, rivers, wells, hills, fields, forests, our animals and birds, save them all. We have seen how the environment is on the road to destruction. I will pray for good sense for our politicians and for our youth so that politicians may create jobs for our youth. I will pray to Santa to give Goa freedom from drugs so that our youth do not waste their lives. I will pray for good sense among our politicians to protect our Goa which is a heaven on earth, so that we can save it for the future generations.
