PORVORIM: While the Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar in his short speech stated that the thrust has been laid on Employment and Education, the budget documents reveal the industries and IT sector has also benefited.
As per the government release, the revised estimates of Information Technology for the year 2017-18 were Rs 169.03 cr which has been increased to Rs 219.53 cr.
Besides, Industries trade n Commerce, Labour and Employment allocation has been increased from Rs 94.90 (RE – 2017-18) to Rs 217.70 cr.
The allocation for the tourism sector has been increased by 10 per cent, from Rs 199.94 cr in 2017-18 to Rs 219.53 cr in 2018-19).
The Budget for Sports and Youth Affairs has been increased by 40 per cent. The allocation for 2017-18 was Rs 201.29 cr (RE) which has been increased to Rs 283.86 cr.
The School education allocation has been increased by 20 per cent from Rs 1223.48 cr to Rs 1470.62 cr.
Similarly Higher Education allocation has seen a jump of 30 per cent. The allocation from 255.31 in 2017-18 (RE) has been increased to 345.65 cr.
