PANJIM: PWD Minister Ramkrishna (Sudin) Dhavalikar on Thursday promised Agassaim villagers that PWD will pay Rs 14,000 to Rs 16,000 per sq mtr compensation to land losers for the construction of the new Zuari Bridge.
“PWD will pay Rs 14,000 per sq mtr compensation for people whose land will going due to the construction and Rs 16,000 per sq mtr if the house is demolished,” he said. He added that the government has acquired around 15,000 sq mtr of land at Agassaim and the people whose houses will be demolished will be taken care of, and that land for land compensation will not be given. “Only after proper compensation and relocation of the people, the demolition or land will be taken by the government for the construction of the new Zuari Bridge,” he added. He also assured the villagers that the two chapels, which come in the pathway of the construction, will be taken care of and relocated. Agassaim Sarpanch Antonio Afonso said the people were worried, but now with the assurance most are happy with the rate.
