PANJIM: The organisers of the Sunburn festival have issued a statement on Friday saying the festival will be held at Vagator from December 27 to 29, but on a smaller scale.
Chief Minister Dr Pramod Sawant, however, had announced after a Cabinet meeting held earlier this week that the State government would not be giving permission for Sunburn festival.
It may be recalled that while the Chief Minister had firmly said the festival won’t happen in Goa, Tourism Minister Manohar Ajgaonkar had not ruled out the chances of the festival happening at a later stage.
Percept Live, the organisers of the festival, not only issued the statement that Sunburn will still go ahead but they also continued to announce the names of international artistes that will be performing at the festival.
Percept Live said the event will be held with a ‘smaller limited capacity’ at Vagator.
“This press note is issued with respect to the recent speculation about Sunburn festival Goa in the media. Percept Live would like to clarify that an initial application was made to host Sunburn Festival at Vagator in Goa at a similar mega scale as it used to take place earlier. Under advice from the Government of Goa, it was decided to not pursue this mega festival any further due to COVID-19 pandemic. Hence the Sunburn mega festival is not taking place in Goa this year,” said the organisers.
