PANJIM: Supporters of Bharatiya Janata Party’s St Andre MLA Vishnu Wagh, with the MLA in tandem, marched to the party head office to greet party president Vinay Tendulkar on his birthday, but after the bonhomie, Wagh’s supporters demanded a cabinet berth for their legislator.
In another related development, the Nationalist Congress Party held out the gauntlet to the BJP that Wagh could still be the party’s North Goa Lok Sabha candidate, if the Congress gave its nod.
Wagh, who has been vocal against the government, and time and again expressed his desire to be part of the State cabinet vehemently denied allegations that he is involved in any kind of toppling game to seek ministership.
“I am very much with Bharatiya Janata Party… I will always work for the party,” he reassured.
Wagh’s supporters urged Tendulkar to take up the issue of Cabinet berth for their representative with Chief Minister Manohar Parrikar. The demand was also raised earlier by the supporters who were unhappy over Parrikar announcement to give ESG chairmanship to Wagh.
Speaking on the Wagh issue, Nationalist Congress Party State president Nilkanth Halarnkar told Herald that North Goa seat would go to them 100% and that he was indeed in touch with the High Command and there were some ongoing discussions.
