PANJIM: A taxi driver lost control and rammed into a street light pole in a
self accident that occurred at Old Goa bypass road. The vehicle was at a considerable
speed when the accident occurred. The impact was so strong that the street
light pole and the concrete footing of the pole was knocked down.
The driver
sustained minor injuries while the vehicle suffered extensive damage.
As Goa
experiences continues incessant rains the driving conditions on Goan roads
especially the highways have become dangerous due to visibility and the grip of
the tyres at high speed. Police have advised drivers to drive with caution to
avoid any untoward incidents. A number of accidents in Goa are occuring due to overspeeding and are mostly self accidents.
