Taxi operators’ fiasco: Now cases of faulty digital meters come to light

MARGAO: The issue pertaining to digital meters for the tourist taxis is yet to be resolved; however, cases of faulty digital meters have come to light leading to suspicions about the technology.
As reported some of the taxi operators, who have installed the digital meters, have expressed dissatisfaction stating that the meters have turned up faulty in a matter of just two days.
It may be recalled that Transport Department has taken a stand of cancellation of the permit for not installing the digital meters as per the orders issued earlier. A few days back, the department had also issued notices to nearly 3,000 taxi operators to cancel the permit.
The taxi operators have raised many issues pertaining to digital meters also. And now, the case of meters turning up to be faulty has created more confusion amongst the taxi operators.
Speaking to the media persons, a tourist taxi driver from Benaulim Velancio Goes expressed frustration over the faulty digital meters, he installed a few days back at Mandopa, Navelim.
