PANJIM: After holding the tourism industry to ransom for three days last week, there was a positive step taken on Thursday when tourist taxi operators participated in a soft skill training program organised by Goa Tourism Development Corporation (GTDC).
The training session saw historian Sanjeev Sardessai giving taxi operators an insight into Goa’s history and its importance. He also briefed participants on Goa’s journey earlier and now.
The session also emphasised on training on how to deal and understand the needs of customers. Professional Trainer Pravin Sabnis and gave a presentation on soft skills and motivated the drivers by giving various examples and demonstrations, whereas Motor Vehicle Inspector of Transport Department in Vasco, J De Sa imparted education on traffic rules and regulations.
A statement issued by GTDC states that the Corporation’s role in sensitising taxi drivers and the role of a taxi driver in the tourism industry was also discussed during the session. This was followed by a written test and awarding of certificates to those who cleared the test.
