Teacher held, another booked for assaulting students

BICHOLIM: The Bicholim police arrested a 45-year-old teacher of an aided school at Sankhali for allegedly assaulting an class VIII student three months back.

According to the police, a parent from Marcel lodged a complaint on October 7, stating that on September 9 in the Standard VIII classroom, the teacher Judith Maria, allegedly behaved in an inappropriate manner and pushed her daughter’s right shoulder which resulted in her falling down on the ground and sustaining minor injury to her leg.

Following a complaint, the police mounted technical surveillance and gathered local intelligence and arrested the accused on Monday. 

In another incident, a teacher of a government primary school at Vithalapur-Sankhali has been booked for allegedly assaulting a minor student.

A parent from Podoshem-Sattari lodged a complaint stating that the teacher Ayodhya (full name and address not known) allegedly slapped her minor son due to which his head banged to edge of the wall. The incident occurred on Saturday.

The Bicholim Police have registered both the cases under section 323 of IPC and Section 8 of Goa Children’s Act. Further investigations are on under the guidance of Bicholim PI Rahul Naik and overall guidance of DySP Sagar Ekoskar.
