MARGAO: Colva police have registered an offence against Rakesh Kumar, 29, a resident of Laxette-Varca and a native of Samastipur, Bihar.
According to Colva police, Kumar rode his motorcycle in a rash and negligent manner, endangering human life. While proceeding from Benaulim to Varca, he struck a pedestrian from behind near Laxmi Electricals, Varca. The pedestrian, identified as Kelly alias Shanaya Fernandes, 17, of Ranwaddo, Betalbatim, fell onto the road and sustained minor injuries.
The Colva police stated that Kumar fled the scene without informing the authorities. However, the accused was later traced and arrested but subsequently released on bail. Head Constable Rohan Naik is investigating the case.
