On October 12, 2023, the Women’s Police Station received a complaint from a 17-year-old girl. The complaint detailed a disturbing situation where a 28-year-old man named Sunil, residing in Hubli, Karnataka, had sexually abused her since 2019. Additionally, he had demanded inappropriate favours and invaded her privacy by spying on her during private moments like bathing. This distressing invasion of privacy drove the young girl to attempt suicide.
In response, the Women’s Police Station filed a case under various sections of the law, including the Indian Penal Code and the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act. Sunil was arrested on the same day in full compliance with legal guidelines.

On October 13, 2023, Sunil appeared before the Hon’ble JMFC “F” Court in Panaji, where he was remanded to police custody for five days, set to conclude on October 18, 2023. The investigation is ongoing and is being supervised by law enforcement authorities.
