PANJIM: Goa is reeling under the impact of soaring temperatures as the mercury rose unexpectedly in Goa on Thursday and Friday making them the hottest days of the summer season so far.
The State Meteorological department recorded 37 Degree Celsius for the State on these two days, with recorded temperatures on March 13, and 14, which is 5 Degree Celsius above normal.
The recorded temperatures are just 2 degrees less than the hottest temperatures ever recorded in March, which was in 1979, when the temperature touched 39 degrees C, officials said.
Last year, the temperature recorded on the same day-March 13-was 35.6C.
The temperature for last few days has been between 32C to 35C with night temperatures dropping to 23 degrees Celsius.
The mercury has begun rising after Goa experienced some unusually chilly nights in February this year which were even 15C.
Humidity during the day was recorded at 61 percent. IMD has predicted that the maximum and minimum temperature for next 24 hours will continue to be 37C and 23C respectively.
