CALANGUTE: Nerul United defeated Merces Sports Club 2-0 to march into semi-finals of Rusi Daver Cup All-Goa inter-village football tournament organized by Adarsh Yuvak Sangh at Saligao grounds on Friday.
Nerul dominated the initial proceedings of the match and took the lead in the 5th minute of play through Suraj Khauthankar. Nerul doubled the lead in the 10th minute with Rajat Chopdekar finding the net.
Trailing by two, Merces tried to bounce back into the game but Nerul defense kept Merces forwards at bay. Nerul had a couple of scoring opportunities to increase the lead but their forwards failed to find the net.
