MARGAO, SEPT 30
The sub-divisional magistrate, Margao has asked the representatives of the Swami Samarth Temple, Rumdamol to take the new route for the immersion of Lord Ganesh idol on October 1.
SDM Johnson Fernandes granted permission for the use of loudspeakers during the procession on the new route from Maruti temple, Rumdamol to Rawanfond, KRC station, before culminating at Khareband.
The latest development follows a report received from the police stating that the organisers be directed to take the  new route.
For the last two years, the immersion procession was taken from the Temple to Aquem-New market-flyover bridge before culminating at Khareband.
On Wednesday, the deputy collector had asked the temple committee to go for the new route via Margao residency, Loyola school, Comba railway crossing before culminating at Khareband. This proposal did not find favour with the temple committee members, who insisted on the route which was followed in the last two years.
