“The problem was not so severe due to scanty rainfall in June, but now there is a heavy downpour and commuters are forced to take shelter in the nearby tea shop or kiosks as the passenger shed does not have a roof,” said the commuter. Ferry crew said the local panchayat has sent a proposal to the River Navigation Department requesting to repair the passenger shed.

CHORAO: The roof of a passenger shed near the Chorao ferry point, which was blown away due to strong winds in the first week of June, is yet to be replaced by authorities. Speaking to Herald, some commuters complained that the roof was blown away by strong winds in June.
