PORVORIM: Two youth from Maharashtra and one from West Bengal died on the spot, while two others from the two States were seriously hurt when their motorcycles collided with each other near the Verla-Canca junction along the Mapusa-Calangute road on Sunday night.
According to Mapusa Police, the mishap took place at about 10.45 pm as Ravindra Gurav (23) of Ajara-Kolhapur was riding a motorcycle (MH-09-DY-9772) along with the pillion rider Rahul Joshi (26) of Akola.
When they reached near the Overseas Bank at Canca, they collided with an oncoming motorcycle (GA-03-L-0448), driven by Parag Patil (22) along with two pillion riders, Mustaki Mandol (22) and Kaliulla Zalvi (20), all from West Bengal.
The impact of the mishap was such that Gurav, Joshi and Patil sustained grievous head injuries and were declared dead on admission at District Hospital in Mapusa. Mandol and Zalvi were also seriously hurt and are undergoing treatment at the hospital.
Mapusa PSI Chandrakant Gawas is investigating the case.
