The Servo Cup the 3rd All Goa Inter-Collegiate Football Tournament organised by the Herald Group in collaboration with Goa University, and supported by Walbrue and Magsons — delivered a gripping day of knockout football on Sunday, as four intense quarter-final clashes unfolded at the Government Football Ground in Santa Cruz. From relentless attacking play to dramatic late twists, the tournament served up a feast of high-energy action.
The day began with Cuncolim Educational Society’s College of Arts and Commerce (CES), Cuncolim, dominating their tie against Government College of Arts, Science and Commerce, Sanquelim. Despite sustained first-half pressure, CES failed to convert their chances before the break. The breakthrough finally arrived in the 38th minute through a superb strike by Atif Sheikh, with substitute Saish Gawas sealing a deserved 2–0 victory late on. The match was played in the presence of Guest of Honour Rajesh Moraskar.

In the second quarter-final, Rosary College, Navelim, produced a controlled and disciplined performance to earn a 2–0 win over Don Bosco College, Panjim. Ashnoy Gomes opened the scoring on the cusp of halftime after an assist from Dylan, before Flann Crasto doubled the advantage with a stunning long-range effort in the 55th minute — one of the standout goals of the tournament so far. Guest of Honour Tony Dias was present for the match.
The most dominant display of the day came from MES Vasant Joshi College of Arts and Commerce, Vasco, who swept past GMC College, Porvorim, with a commanding 4–0 win. Shravan opened the scoring in the 16th minute from a Rajat assist, before Pradeep stole the show with the Servo Cup’s first hat-trick, striking in the 19th, 22nd and 29th minutes to put the result beyond doubt.
The final match of the evening produced the day’s biggest drama, as Sridora Caculo College of Management, Mapusa, edged Fr Agnel College of Arts and Commerce in a nail-biting clash that finished 2–2 in regulation time and was decided 7–6 on sudden-death penalties. Rohan and Laximan Rao were on target for Sridora Caculo, while Joven and Lloyd replied for Fr Agnel. The shootout win also served as redemption for Sridora Caculo, who had previously lost to the same opponents on penalties in the Varsity Inter-Collegiate Tournament. Athar and Soham of Sridora Caculo were cautioned during the match.
With the quarter-finals concluded, attention now turns to the semi-finals on Tuesday morning. CES College will face MES Vasant Joshi College, while Rosary College will battle Sridora Caculo College in two highly anticipated fixtures.
As the tournament moves into its decisive stages, the Servo Cup continues to cement its status as one of Goa’s premier inter-collegiate football competitions — a platform that celebrates youth talent, teamwork and the passion of campus football.
