MARGAO: The South Goa district Collectorate was hit by a row of sorts after the national tricolour was found hoisted upside down on Sunday morning.
District Collector, N D Agrawal sought to distance himself from the controversy, saying the Tricolour is hoisted by the police and not by the Collectorate employees. He, however, has promised to look into the matter and initiate an inquiry into the episode. “I am unaware of any such incident since I was out of station. But, I will look into the matter to find out the truth”, he said.
Sources said the flag was found hoisted upside down in violation of the Flag code on Sunday morning. It was only when citizens began filming the incident, that the police personnel rectified the mistake and got it hoisted as per the code.
A couple of months ago, the national Tricolour hoisted on the district Collectorate building was found torn, and it was immediately replaced after the incident was brought to the notice of the district Collector.
