Tourist found dead in hotel room

A 32-year-old tourist from Nasik was found murdered in a room at a resort in Calangute on Wednesday.
According to Calangute Police, three tourists from Nasik had checked-in at a resort on December 7 by paying an advance of Rs 500.
“After spending their day out, the trio entered the resort at about 11 pm and later paid a visit to the resort’s bar & restaurant,” informed police.
Police further informed that when the waiter presented the bill, there was a heated argument among them. The waiters prevailed upon them and the bill was finally paid.
Later, the trio had a quarrel in their room, causing inconvenience to other guests. The room boy requested the trio to maintain peace.
Police said on Wednesday morning, two of them went, locking their other friend in the room and did not return till at about 11 pm. It was then that the resort staff suspected some foul play and called for the third person in the room, but there was no response.
The room boy opened the room with the help of a duplicate key and the body of the third tourist was found under the bed.The resort staff accordingly informed the owner and later informed the Calangute Police at around 11.30 pm.
Calangute Police led by PSI Mahesh Kerkar rushed to the resort and carried out investigations. DySP P L Mapari along with SP Arvind Gawas too visited the resort to take stock of the situation. Police further informed that the 32-year-old tourist was strangulated to death with hands. A hunt has been launched to arrest the absconding tourists.
