Traffic Cell cracks whip on parking violations in Margao

MARGAO: The Margao Traffic Cell has taken stringent action against vehicles illegally parked on roadsides in Margao. Between June 16 and June 22, a total of 433 challans were issued for dangerous parking, and 48 individuals were booked for parking in no-parking areas.

PI Sanjay Dalvi stated that traffic staff posted in Margao and nearby areas have been photographing vehicles parked on roads, and notices will be sent to the owners. The traffic cell also identified some heavy vehicles parked on both sides of roads in the Fatorda area, and notices will be issued to them as well.

PI Dalvi, who is supervising the drive, emphasised that this crackdown on improper vehicular parking will continue in Margao and Fatorda, where a significant number of vehicles enter daily.

Meanwhile, Margao citizens are demanding the implementation of a multi-level parking project to address the growing vehicle population and parking issues. As the commercial centre of South Goa, Margao attracts many people from nearby villages for shopping.

Due to the lack of available parking spaces, they often park their vehicles in any available space, resulting in fines for parking in no-parking areas.
